Issue:
I want to use an unlocked Huawei E3277 USB modem with T-Mobile, and I need information about what T-Mobile "web connect" software to use, and how to configure it to be used with this modem.
Details:
I frequently travel overseas, and I need the ability to use a GSM-type USB Broadband dongle for internet connectivity. I use T-Mobile when here in the U.S. and other providers when overseas, (depending on where I am), to eliminate hideously expensive roaming charges.
I have been using a Huawei E173 3G modem with both T-Mobile, (in the U.S.), and Megafon, (in Russia), so far. However I wanted to upgrade to 4G-LTE, so I bought an unlocked Huawei E3277.
The older T-Mobile Web Connect software I have been using with the original modem won't work with the new one - it shows "No Device Detected", even with the correct drivers installed.
Using "Quick Net" (the supplied connection manager software), I can get it to "connect" but cannot get to the actual internet. I suspect that either I need to use the relevant T-Mobile connection app, or need the correct configuration information for my modem.
Questions:
- Can I continue to use my pre-existing mobile broadband SIM card and phone number with the new modem, or do I need to upgrade?
- Is it possible to get whatever version of T-Mobile's "web connect" (or whatever it is called), connection manager software to use with this modem?
- If I cannot do that, (get the "T-Mobile" version of the connection manager software), can I get the configuration information needed to create a "T-Mobile" connection profile within Quick Net?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
