Cannot to get Rocket MF591 to install on Acer netbook

I just bought a TMobile Rocket 4G USB Laptop stick - model ZTE MF591 and unfortunately cannot get the drivers to install properly on my netbook.

I am trying to install on Acer Asper One D255 netbook, running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3.

I inserted the device and it seemed to install some of the drivers properly and then prompted me to install the TMobile software, which I did.  After that was done installing, it tried to install some more drivers and that's where it bombs out and says that it could not install the device.

When I take out the laptop stick and reinsert it, it once again says

"This wizard helps you install software for

T-Mobile Rocket 4G prepaid"

I click the option to try to install automatically and then it says "Cannot Install this Hardware".

When I start the T-Mobile Connection Manager, the program starts and says "Checking Device" but then just gets stuck there and does not proceed.

I installed the device on my desktop and all the drivers seemed to install just fine.  So I know it isn't the Rocket device itself.

Please let me know if you have any ideas how I can fix this or otherwise I will have to return the Rocket device and try with some other device or mobile provider.  Thank you..

Welcoming e-mail contains incorrect links

I just ordered a T-Mobile Rocket 2.0 laptop stick and when it didn't work I was pleased to see that I had just received an e-mail from t-mobile with a link to "Device Setup Support". However the link took me to a page (http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2500) that is concerned entirely with mobile phones. This feels quite unfriendly, and careless.

My.T-Mobile has transitioned to Mim.T-Mobile. This new site is dead. Cannot access any info.

Tried to log on to My.T-Mobile.com today and was automatically directed to the new site, Mim.T-Mobile.com.

This new site is almost totally dead.  I am presented with the type of Data Plan I have purchased (2 Month Pass 4G - 3.5 GB), the amount fo Data I have used so far, and the Billing Period.

There ar four "clickable" links:

(1) Add/Change Data Plan

(2) Cancel Plan

(3) Edit User & Payment Information

(4) View Data Plan Purchase History

None of the links work.  They are all dead.

There are absolutely no other "clickable" links of any kind on this page.  I can not go to any other page on the T-Mobile website, I can not log out, I can not do anything.

I can not manage any aspects of my account from this page.

This new page is totally worthless.  This same page appeared about a month ago, a few days before my last Data Pass expired.  I had to resort to calling customer service to try and get some answers, but they were no help at all.  They said that when my Data Pass expires I would have to purchase a new Pass by telephone.  My response was that here in the 21st Century, I should not have to resort to a 19th Century device, the telephone, in order to activate a 21st Century device, Mobile Broadband Internet.

This dead web page seems to be an ongoing problem with T-Mobile.  If it is not fixed by the time I need to renew my Data Pass in about a month, I will NOT be renewing my Mobile Broadband service with T-Mobile.  This account should be able to be managed via the Internet, not by telephone.  I will give my Mobile Broadband business to one of T-Mobile's competitors.

I am sure I am not alone in this attitude.

It looks like T-Mobile didn't test this page before releasing it to the public.  Please, please, please give us back the old My.T-Mobile web pages.

LTE laptop stick

Are there any plans for an LTE USB stick? I'm not interested in the wifi hotspot.

Or will another carrier's (unlocked) LTE stick work? There is one report that the AT&T Momentum works on T-Mobile's LTE band.

Slow broadband speed

Hi

I have a real problem with download speed. I have two types of connections to compare to.

t mobile web connect gives me this numbers

Download Speed:
0.4Mbps

Upload Speed:
0.9Mbps

----------------------

AT&T personal hotspot gives me this

Download Speed:
2.73Mbps

Upload Speed:
0.9Mbps

This problem is going on for a wile now I have tried the faloing but non apply and I did reinstall the firmware

Possible causes:

  • The signal is too low
  • You are not in a 3G or 4G coverage area
  • Your computer has a browser problem

Solution:

  1. Make sure your current location is within 3G or 4G T-Mobile coverage.

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Insert your laptop stick directly into a USB port on the computer.
Note: This does not apply for netbooks or notebooks with a SIM card slot.

  4. When you log in to the operating system, open the connection manager.

  5. If you have no signal or 1 bar, try moving location to another room or closer to a window.

  6. Connect and test browsing speeds.

  7. Check for any programs that may be running in the background (anti-virus, Windows updates, etc.). If these programs are running, or downloading updates, you may have a slow browsing experience.

  8. Make sure you have the latest version of firmware installed.

Why is T-Mobile changing my data plan?

$

I have a 5GB plan for my laptop stick that is 39.99 a month. I received a letter yesterday stating that T-Mobile was "upgrading my plan" to 4GB a month, 50 texts, and unlimited talk. If I have a laptop stick, I don't need talk or texts. So basically I'm paying the same amount per month for 1GB less. How disappointing. Is it just because they want to switch over all the old plans to their new ones?

How slow is slow for Classic – Overage-Free Plus?

I'm considering changing from a montly pass to the two-year contract using Classic - Overage-Free Plus.  Occording to the documenation, after I use up my data, the access continues, but at a reduced speed.  With my daughter on the internet, I'm expecting a few months I'll be over the limit.

How slow is the speed when I'm passed my limit?

To give you some background, I was using Sprint's 3G broadband for a few years, and the most I was able to get from them was 1 Mbs, and usually I was getting 250Kbps.

Thanks,

Tim

Is the Rocket 4g laptop stick compatible with OSX 10.9.x?

I have the ZTE MF591, the Rocket 4g USB laptop stick with a prepaid mobile internet plan.

The device is not connecting to the T-Mobile network. Basically, the connection manager gets stuck at the "connecting" stage. Everything else works up to that point.

I have gone through the usual troubleshooting steps with a T-Mobile Chat agent. Nothing's wrong with my plan. Nothing's wrong with the SIM card. I have inserted everything correctly. The agent said I should visit a T-mobile store, but I get the feeling that it's a software issue.

Has anyone else been able to set up the Rocket 4g (not the Rocket 3.0) on a new MacBook Air? It ships with the OSX 10.9. I think that's the OSX Maverick.

? Rocket 4G Laptop Stick activation problem

$

I purchased a Rocket 4G Laptop Stick, with sim card, and have been trying to figure out why I can't register it. It appears to install correctly, and I have webConnectManager showing up. However, when I try to connect to a T-Mobile Broadband network, the "connect" button says "connecting disabled" when I hover over it. I click on "about" and it says "Phone number not available on SIM." I tried reinstalling, still doesn't work. I understand I have to activate the stick, but I can't figure out what else to do at the moment to accomplish this. The light on the stick blinks blue every 2-3 seconds, which would seem to indicate I have a connection, but then why would the dialog indicate I can't connect? I've been through the menus three or four times trying to figure this out and I don't know where else to look. I'm doing everything right according to all the documentation/manuals I can find.

My laptop is fairly new, it's a Toshiba L755-S5256, so I don't think it's a problem with that. I looked in Device Manager and the stick is showing up there. I'm out of ideas what to try next. Thanks for any help ...

Can I use the T Mobile Rocket 3.0 4G Laptop Stick both on my laptop away from home and on my pc at home for my regular home internet connection?

Wrong firmware on T Mobile Rocket 4G

I purchased the T Mobile Rocket 4G prepaid MF 591 03/11 and was having trouble with the device working with equipment (cradlepoint ctr35) that supported my model usb stick.

I attempted to upgrade the firmware in accordance with T Mobile's instructions and received error message saying wrong firmware for device.  I decided to go down the list of firmware downloads and discoved T Mobile Rocket 2.0 firmware is the only compatible update for my device.

Hence, the wrong firmware was loaded on my device from the get-go.

Can T Mobile manually install the proper firmware for my T Mobile Rocket 4G device or can I exchange the device for a working model, which I supposedly purchased in the first place?

Prepaid Data Message Blocking

I have a prepaid data plan for a Jet USB modem. I have not use it for a while and recently added a 1 week 1GB pass. Works fine, but now I cannot send or receive text messages like I used to. If I try to send a text from my phone a get a reply saying "Message Blocking is active". I do get short messages from TMobile to the device saying I have added a money, and a plan, etc.

There are no options in my Tmobile to undo this. How do I get this off?

Rocket 4G Stick Will Not Install on Lenovo T520 Laptop

New Lenovo T520 ThinkPad laptop is running Win7 Pro, with Norton 2012.   T-Mobile installation fails.   This is very similar to my previous experience with a Dell XPS-15, described and solved in http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/3932

In that old case T-Mobile support referred me to ZTE, the Rocket 4G Stick manufacturer.   ZTE suggested that I uninstall the Dell laptop's Broadcom Wireless card drivers (based on their opinion that those existing drivers might be interfering with the T-Mobile driver installation).  Instead, I used SysConfig to take them out of Startup and that worked, as T-Mobile was subsequently installed successfully.  (Then, of course, the SysConfig action was reversed.)

That trick to prevent the WLAN drivers from loading did not work on the new Lenovo because I could not find an entry to do that in the Startup list.  It has the

During the T-Mobile installation all five groups of drivers were indicated as being successfully installed:  HSPA+Modem, AT Port (COM5), Enumerator for Wireless Ethernet Adapter, Diagnostics Port (COM4), plus the T-Mobile Wireless Ethernet Adapter.  Then the message, "Your device is ready to use" displayed.  However, when I opened Connection Manager the "Connect" button is a faded green and unavailable.  Signal strength is indicated as up to 5 red bars, varying with the floor and location, with a small red "x" indicating the device is not actually connected.  The Rocket 4G stick is blinking a green LED twice, quickly, about every two seconds.

I opened the T-Mobile Connection Manager Menu, went to "Help-About-Run Diagnostics" and it indicated all was normal except "Upload" and "Download" failed.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled this device four times, with multiple boots after each.  For one attempt I booted up in Safe Mode without networking but the installation failed to load all the drivers from the stick.

The drivers that came with the T-Mobile device are loading OK.  But something is preventing the stick from connecting, despite an apparent strong signal (which this area typically has).  The laptop's WLAN and Bluetooth are both "disabled" but not uninstalled so their drivers are loading, which may be the issue.  I'm hesitant to "uninstall" them as suggested by ZTE but that's a possibility, as I could use an Ethernet connection to download and reinstall them.   It seems like they could just be relocated by cut and paste to a memory stick, then replaced later...(?)    I'm open to ideas or suggestions that might help get this Rocket 4G working again.  Just make them very clear and as goof-proof as possible  :-)

Rocket 4G Broadband Stick Will Not Install

Dell XPS-15 Laptop, running Vista Ultimate, Norton 2011.  T-Mobile Connection Manager installed fine but then error message indicates the drivers failed to install.  PC is apparently not recognizing ZTE's Rocket.  T-Mobile diagnostics indicate 4 error codes:  2-Firmware, 4-SIM, 6-Upload, 7-Download.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, using all three USB ports.  Dell Wireless LAN is turned OFF via switch on laptop (and has been throughout these efforts, as instructions suggested).  When error message about the drivers appears I've tried all possible options to resolve, including searching on the stick and C:\  drive.

The Rocket 4G has a decent signal... green light flashing once, about every 3 seconds.  There is no "Connect" button showing on the T-Mobile connection manager, nor any signal strength icon.

It has been activated via phone and has a T-Mobile number.  T-Mobile tech support has not been able to resolve this problem and referred me to manufacturer, ZTE.   Their call center (India?) was hard to understand.  They suggested that I uninstall the Dell laptop's Broadcom Wireless card drivers (based on their opinion that those existing drivers might be interferring with the T-Mobile driver installation).  I'm reluctant to do that without first getting other opinions.

The stick is OK, as it installed properly on an HP desktop also running Vista (64-bit) and Norton 2011.  Following installation of the T-Mobile Connection Manager it indicated drivers were  being installed.  Then the Connect button and signal strenght icon appeared.  I then uninstalled it from the desktop.

Instead of completely uninstalling the Dell wireless on my laptop as the folks at ZTE recommended, perhaps there is a straightforward way to prevent it from loading.  If the T-Mobile 4G card then installed successfully, I could reactivate the Dell Broadcom wireless feature, used for my home WLAN.

Has anyone had a similar problem with incomplete installation of the T-Mobile Rocket 4G software?

MBB Rocket 2.0 HSPA+ Laptop Stick functionality issue on Mac OS ?

$
0
0

I have a question/problem as I have had major isues with my TM data device and am getting tired of paying for it since I have not been able to consistently use it for at least the last 9 months..

Set up : Macbook Pro with two partitions :

             1. Mac OS X ver 10.6.8

             2. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (although I believe the original install went to the Programs X86 (32-bit program folder) .

The **** thing works on my windows partition when I am able to get a signal or good reception

(I don't even bother at my current home location as the signal doesn't exist or is so poor for either

phone or data services). Supposely I had a ticket brought up for that service issue some time ago

but I received no feedback on it. So home usage for phone/data is almost non-existent.

I'm usually lucky to get a call out of the apt. But I digress..Anyway, I can get a connection using Win7.

The problem I have on my data stick is that I can't get it to work on the Mac OS X partition at all.

I took it in to a local store with my laptop but no results. The clerk did tell me that it looked like I

have an upgrade so we tried. Nothing happened. But he did tell me that I could use the 4G

firmware/webconnect software instead. I wasn't sure of that since the download site says to select

the correct device to obtain the correct upgrades.

So I marched home and just now (couple of weeks later) got around to trying a download/update again.

Somehow, my mac is not recognizing the data stick when I insert it into an usb slot. So I can't update

the firmware recomended for my device as the update app just hangs saying " Please connect the

USB sick into an open USB slot".  On top of that , my webconnect manager keeps giving me

the error that I need to "reboot in 32-bit" for better performance. And that's even when I download

the updated version for Mac for my specific device.

At one point in time, I had it working just fine for both partitions. And if memory serves me correctly,

I believe it was after a mac os update (I think it was back in latter 2011)  that I lost the ability to use

it on my mac partition. but , as I mentioned above I don't typically attempt to use the device at my

current apartment due to lack of signal strength.

Please help - I do not want to buy a second device just for my mac os partition....

Thanks in advance !

Teresa B.

T-Mobile webconnect manager when attempting to connect it reports error 635: There is an unknown error. Does anyone know what the issue could be? I have researched this and could not find very much. Also I noticed in the webconnect manager Mobile info for broadband does not display the serial numbert or phone number for the device. Is this by design?
